Bulletin 13.1.2026

The purpose of the University of Helsinki Lahti Fund is to support innovative and practice-oriented research, adult education, and development activities that contribute to the development of the Lahti region and Päijät-Häme through grants, scholarships, and co-funding.

In 2026, the Fund will award grants of EUR 2,000 to bachelor’s degree students and grants of EUR 4,000–5,000 to doctoral candidates and researchers.

Grants are awarded for studies, final theses, and research that support the development of the Lahti region and Päijät-Häme. In its evaluation, the Fund’s Board particularly values applications that demonstrate a connection to one or more of the following themes: the green transition, justice, or digital transformation.

The application period is January 14 – February 6, 2026. All applications and recommendations are to be submitted through the online application system where the form will be visible as of January 1, 2026.

Applicants are recommended to include at least one letter of recommendation with their application. The recommendation(s) should clearly demonstrate a connection to the purpose of the Fund.

Scholarship applications and appendices are processed only in electronic form. The decisions and payment information will be communicated to the applicants when the decisions are finalized, but no later than the end of April.

Scholarship applications are evaluated using the uniform evaluation criteria of the University of Helsinki funds. See https://studies.helsinki.fi/instructions/article/scholarships-and-grants for more information and application guidelines and criteria.
